When someone is installing or replacing a water heater, Ridge Manor residents are mostly concerned with their energy efficiency and for good reason. According to the department of energy, as much as 14-18 percent of a home’s monthly energy consumption come from heating water. There are two types of water heaters that many people disagree on: gas heaters or electric heaters. Both of these systems do the same job of heating up the water in your home, but one is powered by natural gas while the other is powered by electricity. Each system has its own benefits that might influence your decision to go either way.
Electric Water Heaters
Electric water heaters are the better option if you are looking to save a little more on your energy bill. The reason why they do not cost as much to run when compared to gas heaters because they are not constantly heating water; electricity is only being used when you need hot water. Although this is a feature that makes a cost-effective water heater, ridge manor residents should be aware that it is not ideal for large families. The more water you use in your home, the less likely it will stay warm with an electric heater.
Gas Water Heaters
Gas water heaters are a little different from electric ones because they are constantly using natural gas to heat water. Natural gas is much quicker at heating water and retaining heat than that of an electric water heater. Ridge Manor residents who have purchased a gas heater might have also noticed that even if their power is out, they can still have hot running water unlike an electrical unit. Gas water heaters are ideal for homes with large families or in homes that need to use more hot water at the same time.
