Having a working water heater in your home can be one of the most important appliances that a family has to use. Not only does it provide hot water for when people want to take a shower, but also it supplies hot water to faucets, dishwashers, and washing machines for clothes. When it comes to a water heater, Hernando Beach residents should know that these appliances can last many years of use, but they will not forever. Some homeowners should look out for telltale signs that their water heater is not working as well as it should be, and that it may be time to get it replaced.
Have You Noticed Leaking Water from the Tank?
It is not unheard of for appliances and other pieces of technology with water lines to have water leaking from somewhere. With this said however if someone starts to notice that water is developing from their water heater, Hernando Beach residents should start to consider getting a replacement for their water heater. Leaking water from the base or sides of the tank may be the result of pressure building up inside the tank itself. In the worst case scenario, if someone starts to notice a leak from their water heater and do nothing about it, it could cause an explosion from the tank.
Signs of Water Discoloration
If someone is not too keen on noticing that their water heater is starting to degrade, they may be able to notice signs in the color of the water that is coming out of their faucets and showers. When it comes to issues with the water in a water heater, Hernando Beach residents should look for rusty or cloudy looking water as a sign that something is wrong. Oftentimes these off colored water will have a strong metallic smell to them as well. This could be a sign that the inside of the tank itself is starting to rust due to steel lining corrosion, or it can be the sacrificial anode rod that could be causing problems.
