Tankless water heaters are a much newer technology than traditional ones that have tanks. But even though they are a newer technology, that does not mean they are always the right choice for some homeowners.
A water professional or someone who installs water heaters for a living might not recommend that some homeowners get tankless water heaters, because they do not run the same as a traditional water heater. Pine Island residents would be better off knowing what are some of these reasons, so they do not make the wrong choice and have to live with them.
Here are some things to consider before purchasing a tankless water heater.
The Amount of People in a House
One of the bigger reasons why a water professional may not recommend a tankless water heater for some homes is based on how many people are in a home, and more specifically how much water is being used at a time.
Because a tankless water heater heats up water on demand and does not store it like a traditional water heater, Pine Island residents may find it hard to get hot water if multiple devices are running at the same time. This is a more common issue for homes with larger families.
It would be difficult to get hot water when the shower is running, and in conjunction be using the dishwasher or the washing machine. It is a good choice for someone who lives alone or two people who are conscious of their water usage.
The Time that Hot Water is Needed For
Another reason why a tankless water heater may not be the best option for some homeowners is when a home uses a lot of hot water over an extended period of time.
Think about how long it will take someone or even multiple people to take long hot showers. This problem is only exacerbated by other people using other water devices for hot water, like sinks, dishwashers, or washing machines.
If you are someone who likes to take long hot showers, it may not be a good idea to have a tankless water heater. Pine Island residents who know they are going to be using a lot of water should consider a traditional water heater with tank, as it will be a better fit for everyone in the residence.
